Interview with Lynnette Peck
What’s your name and where do you come from? Lynnette Peck (2 n’s in Lynnette) and I am currently based near Bristol
Tell us a little bit about the publication(s) you work for? I write features, style shoots and consult for various clients. I specialise mostly in fashion, beauty, homes, travel and lifestyle features. Recent clients include Homes & Antiques magazine, The Daily Telegraph newspaper (I styled a children’s fashion shoot for them last week), Prima, Saga and magazines online and the Institute of Directors magazine. I also have a monthly homes and garden column for P&G’s Victoria website. Plus, I own and run Lovely’s Vintage Emporium an award-winning vintage fashion retail website.
When is the best time of day/week/month for someone to pitch a story to you? I don’t commission others at the moment as I am freelance. Last year I worked on a launch magazine for a contract publisher and I was happy to receive emails at any time. If I am interested I will reply immediately regardless of the day of the week.
Do you need a press release or will a well thought out pitch email be enough for a story to get written? I prefer a press release as I want information more than I want opinion.
How many press releases do you receive on a weekly basis (roughly speaking)? I receive over a 100 every day on email so over 500 a week, plus people have recently started sending PR emails on the weekend.
Name one of your favourite start-ups? Miss Dashwood’s Register, set up by my friend Victoria Lambert, that aims to help businesses, campaigns and individuals get media coverage.
