Interview with David Williams

What’s your name and where do you come from? David Williams; London.

Tell us a little bit about the publication(s) you work for? I write mostly for national newspapers and magazines – notably the Evening Standard and Telegraph – on travel, transport, motoring, the environment and – when travelling – food. I tweet under @djrwilliams.

When is the best time of day/week/month for someone to pitch a story to you? Before the story goes to someone else!

Do you need a press release or will a well thought out pitch email be enough for a story to get written? Either would be fine. The key thing is that it has to be new, different – and newsy.

How many press releases do you receive on a weekly basis (roughly speaking)? Absolutely 100s; far too many read in detail, so the first par or two have to grab me..

Name one of your favourite start-ups? New Globe Traveller

Quick fire round!
Apple or Android? Apple
Mac or PC? PC
Apples for hands or melons for feet? Melons
Name two chocolate bars you would put together to make a super bar How could you improve on a Tunnock’s Caramel wafer?
